JOB TITLE : Technical Support - Network Operations Centre Dublin

JOB PURPOSE:
Monitoring, supporting and helping to maintain the Datacentre and network environment from Digiweb's 24-hour Network Operations Centre (NOC).

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
The monitoring of all backbone links, network devices, and access technologies, opening tickets and taking action within SLAs, demonstrating a methodical troubleshooting approach, detailed documentation, and accurate analysis of faults.
The initial troubleshooting and diagnostics of wireless technologies demonstrating the effective use of troubleshooting tools and monitoring systems, along with effective CLI usage in the troubleshooting and analysis.
The initial diagnostics and troubleshooting of all IP network and system related problems. Demonstrate the effective use of available Show commands on Cisco CLI during troubleshooting of interface or routing issues.
Opening quality tickets and following the correct incident management procedures to own, track, report, and document resolution of problems
Escalating issues to and between back-office teams in an efficient manner, and tracking of tickets between queues.
Ensuring continuous operation of Hosting servers and services as per Data Center Handbook.
Providing quality support for corporate customers, updating and resolving within SLAs in a professional manner.
Communicating network status to other business units during fault situations following escalation procedures.
Effective control and ownership of Change Management and planned outages through the change processes, measured by the impact on Service Availability.
Effective communication of status of Change Requests to other business units
Maintaining and reporting network statistics to management, including Availability, Faults, Capacity, etc
Ensuring continuous operation of Hosting servers and services as per Data Center processes and procedures.
Handling customer enquiries, complaints and requests in a responsive and professional fashion
Following processes and procedures relevant for events and alerts that occur in Data Center
Handle hands and eyes requests from Data Centre customers
Handle access control to the protected data areas
Keep the protected data areas clean and tidy
Fix broken servers (replace hard drives, power supplies etc) where requested to a limited extent
Assist in data centre deployments - cabinet configuration, hardware installation, and cabling

REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE :

Ability to operate on a rolling shift to cover the 24/7 operation of NOC facility.
Experience of working in a technical role in an operational environment. (Ideally in communications and/or IT).
Experience of using PC-based support tools in a communications or IT network management environment.
An ability to identify priorities and manage their time effectively, taking accountability for resolving customer/network events speedily and right first time with minimal supervision.
An ability to understand and speak fluent English so that you are able to explain technical concepts to colleagues and customers ensuring the meaning is understood.
The ability to work effectively within a team, ie. sharing knowledge, offering help.
Excellent interpersonal skills and be an effective negotiator and communicator, able to deal with people at all levels both within and outside the business.
The ability to use available data to solve problems, and find alternative solutions to network events.
Technical Skills :
· Accreditation of Cisco Certified Network Administration (CCNA) level is preferable but not essential and equivalent field experience will be considered.
· Knowledge of Computer Fundamentals
· Knowledge of Microsoft Applications and Operating systems
· Knowledge of Unix and Linux Operating systems is an advantage
· Knowledge of general wireless fundamental is an advantage
· ECDL an advantage
· Technical support experience and/or previous NOC experience is a huge bonus.
Personal Skills:
· Ability to work in isolation when on shift duty
· Ability to prioritize work
· Commitment to learning and development of creative support solutions
· Third level qualification would be an advantage
· Candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have good team playing
· Ideally, candidate will have a Technical support background but Graduate level will be considered
· Potential candidates must expect part of the interview process to be conducted over the phone. Working hours will be on a shift basis.
