PACKET CORE OPERATIONS ENGINEER – 11MONTH CONTRACT DUBLIN

This opportunity is with a global company who has broken all records in delivering products to new markets through innovative R&D within IT, Financial Services and Telecoms. This role will work as part of a team with responsibility for all voice and data traffic on a 2G and 3G network. The role will also cover roaming, call routing, service enabler links, CPN and APN maintenance.

To get this job, you will have the following competencies:

  • 3 years experience in a GSM/GPRS Packet Switching Environment.
  • Experience of 3G, 2G, GPRS, EDGE and wireless internet technology
  • In depth knowledge of data protocols/functions (TCP/IP, Radius, MPLS, WLAN, SS7, GSM).
  • Experience in APN, CPN, Interconnect and Interoperability with IN & VAS Systems
  • Experience in Ericsson nodes: SGSN, GGSN, HLR, MSC, AUC, FNR, IPS, APG and MGW
  • Good process knowledge and working standards & initiative
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Innovative approach with the ability to overcome obstacles
  • Ability to give strong direction to projects while working well within project teams
  • Comfortable interacting with engineers, senior-management, customers and peers
  • Passion and drive to increase customer experience
  • Proven ability to continually improve technical expertise
On successful hire you will:

  • Operation of Packet Core infrastructure, specifically: SGSN, GGSN, HLR, MSC, MGW, IPS and associated nodes.
  • Identification and resolution of issues within the Packet Core networks both proactive and reactive
  • Guide & drive initiatives on ensuring availability and security of Packet Core networks
  • Work closely with Core Networks, Design and Network Monitoring teams.
  • Provide support and mentoring to less senior staff.
  • Liaise with Monitoring centre to efficiently resolve Core network issues
  • Work closely with relevant project teams for formal handover of fully tested solutions into operational service following the SIM process.
  • Build and maintain awareness of commercial and product offerings.
  • Participate in cover for the On call Rota for the Core Network
